Harmonising your inner & outer nature from joy!
Hi Joy Beam,
Welcome, I'm Lauren and I'm so glad you're here. let me take you by the virtual hand and guide you to some yoga. I firmly believe that joy is our innermost nature - but like the sun it can hide behind a thick grey cloud from time to time. And as we weave our way through life it can sometimes feel like those light rays simply can't beam through. The gift I choose is yoga - it allows me to brighten my joy light! It's this feeling that brought me to sharing and teaching yoga in my hometown of Southampton. I've dedicated the last 18 years to practicing, studying and teaching the transformational art of yoga and wish to share it with you. In my classes you can expect to move fluidly, breathe deeply, ignite your inner wisdom while learning a lot & laughing a little. Whether it's physically, mentally or emotionally I hope your joy light brightens! |

My Training
I completed my 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Course with Himalaya Yoga Valley in India in March 2014.
I have an Upper Second Class BA (Hons) Degree in Professional Theatre & Modern Dance from London Studio Centre - The University of the Arts London.
I have a thirst for knowledge, and expanding my understanding of the world through the lens of yoga is one of my favourite pastimes. On top of training in aerial yoga, yin, anusāra and mandala yoga, I’ve also attend courses on sanskrit, history, tantra, mythology and philosophy.
My current self-study is non-dualism, the belief that everything is one an indivisible whole from which we are all connected. Like individual leaves on the branches of a mighty oak.

The language of yoga
Yoga is an ancient Indian practice, so from time to time, you may hear an new word like 'paścimottānāsana'. In most cases, it's the traditional name of the pose, concept or description of a particular meditation or breathing technique.
The important one is 'ōṃ śānti' (aum shantea) - We say this at the end of every practice, it's a wishing of peace from me to you. It's a wonderful way to end our practice together, allowing the ripple effect to begin.
It is traditional in my teaching lineage to complete a class with a sanskrit mantra; this is purely for you to enjoy.
